World Population Foundation (WPF) aims to encourage sexual and reproductive health and rights throughout the world. WPF supports projects by local organisations in developing countries enabling individuals to make their own decisions about their sexuality and the number of children they desire. Lectures on Population and Development

This spring WPF organizes in cooperation with the Society for International Development (SID) and het Institute of Social Studies (ISS) 6 lectures on ‘The Population Question and Development’. 14 May Nigel Harris addressed three issues both interior and international migration and integration. 18 June John Cleland spoke about 'Population and Generation'. “Missing: 75 billion for the world’s poor”

European governments’ aid efforts are continuing to fail the poor to the tune of 75 billion euros, a new report by CONCORD reveals. WPF is a member of CONCORD. “A hundred thousand estimated dead in Burma, food prices rocketing and a woman dying every minute in pregnancy or childbirth. Now, more than ever, European governments must deliver the aid they promised to the world’s poor“ says” Justin Kilcullen, President of CONCORD. More

New executive director

As of 1 June 2009 Frans Baneke retired and stepped down as ex. director WPF. Preceding the intended merger between Rutgers Nisso Groep (RNG) and WPF, Dianda Veldman (ex. director RNG), acts as ex. director WPF as of the same day. After the merger she will be the new ex. director of the combined organisations. More

Sexuality education in Vietnam: sign language

4 million Vietnamese people are hearing-impaired. They are some of the most disadvantaged people and their sexual en reproductive health needs have long been neglected. WPF Vietnam and the Xa Dan school are piloting sex. education for deaf young people. Nguyen Hai Thuong published an article on the subject in Exchange. More
