Advocacy in Developing Countries

The goal of local advocacy is to mobilize political and financial support for SRHR in selected developing countries through the capacity building of local NGOs and stakeholders in the area of advocacy for SRHR. The program should contribute to increased advocacy, through coalition building and the mobilisation of stakeholders, for SRHR in developing countries and increased participation of civil society in decision-making processes. Advocacy for SRHR should result in supportive policies for SRHR and sufficient budget allocations.

Activities

• Letter to express our great concern about the proposed change in abortion legislation in Nicaragua and urgent request to the National Assembly of Nicaragua NOT to agree with the considered legislation to outlaw abortion.
• Forthcoming advocacy training in Tanzania: planned for March 2007.
