Programmes
WPF has “identified” the following 4 programme areas of work from the broader ICPD Programme of Action’s sexual and reproductive health agenda:
- Adolescent sexual and reproductive health and rights (ASRH&R), including;
• information and education
• interactive theatre and dance
• peer education and youth participation
- Gender Based Violence (GBV);
- Access to specific SRH services (f.e. safe motherhood including safe abortion);
- Mainstreaming of SRH&R in poverty reduction efforts or strategies of organisations working in other areas.
These programme areas were selected because over the past years a number of interventions or good practices have been developed that have the potential for successful replication/application (“scaling-up” or “rolling-out”).
WPF will maintain this geographic focus on countries where its know-how, expertise and reputation have been developed.
These countries are considered to be primary project countries and are: Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, South Africa, Pakistan, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam.
Secondary countries are countries not included in the first group but where there is the potential to introduce specific best practices.
Through strategic partnerships with other mainstream development organisations, WPF will make it know-how and technical expertise (in headquarters or field offices) available.
