Factsheet Feminisation of HIV

In 2005, at the eve of the 5 years’ review of the United Nations Declaration of Commitment on HIV/AIDS "Global Crisis — Global Action" (UNGASS on HIV/AIDS, 2001), we can conclude -besides the fact that the total number of people living with HIV has risen to reach its highest level ever (an estimated 40 million)-, the AIDS epidemic is affecting women and girls in increasing numbers.
